Meet the Main Character from The Heartsong Cowboy

Meet Angela French from The Heartsong Cowboy

I thought I'd introduce you to a mom who is driven to do what's best for her daughter...not just out of love but guilt-- Angela French.

What is the name of your character?  Is he/she fictional or a historic person? My main character’s name is Angela French. She is a fictional character.

When and where is the story set? The story The Heartsong Cowboy takes place in modern day North Dakota.

What should we know about him/her? Angela is a single parent. Her husband died of cancer when her daughter was three. She loves being a mom to her daughter, Taylor and running her small restaurant- Café French.

What is the main conflict? What messes up his/her life? After a traumatic incident, Angela’s daughter stopped speaking. Angela is dealing with guilt that is normal of a single parent but with the accident, she feels more responsible. She seeks out anyway to get her daughter to speak again.

What is the personal goal of the character? Angela would love to hear her daughter speak again, even just a sound. She feels responsible and can’t let go of the guilt.

Blurb:
Can two people, one horse and the power of love cure a little girl?

Angela French blames herself for her daughter’s lack of voice. Determined to do anything to correct the situation, she seeks out Jake Kyncade, the owner of The Heartsong Ranch.

Jake Kyncade hides his own sorrows behind his no-nonsense demeanor. Helping children becomes one way to correct his past. Using equine therapy, he sets out to make a difference.

Can Jake help Angela’s dreams come true or will Jake’s past bring more heartache? Will love save them all?

The Heartsong Cowboy is available in the book bundle Cowboy Up! This set has seven sexy cowboys and the women who love them! For only $0.99, you get six sinful stories full of tight Wranglers and Stetsons.

Thank you for stopping by today! The fictional Angela French is based on my own "mom guilt" but also a piece of a real incident that happened when I was teaching at a college preschool. I love to weave pieces of real life into my books. If you are an author...where do you find your inspiration?? If you are a reader, what type of stories inspire you??

Monday's Scintillating Interview

Welcome to Craving Erotic Romance Blogspot.

Today we’re presenting Author: Zoey Marcel!

Thank you for having me, Allyson! It’s good to be here. J

1)      Have you always wanted to be an author?
Since I was eight.
2)      What genre(s) do you write?
I write erotic romance and dark erotica, mostly ménage, BDSM, paranormal, and cowboys. Sometimes I’ll write MF and historical, too. I have plans for some MM books in the future.
3)      Have you ever self published?
No, but I plan to. I’m working on a series that is way too dark to be sent to a publisher, so I’ll have to self-publish that.
4)      Who or what inspired you to write your first book?
My first book was started when I was fourteen. My original inspiration was Gone With the Wind. I rewrote my book, Where the Rebel Flag Still Waves, multiple times. Now it’s pure erotica MFM ménage set during the civil war with paranormal aspects. LOL Definitely different than it was originally.
5)      How many hours in a day might you write?
I don’t have a set number since my toddler dictates most of my time. I go in cycles where I’m focused on writing and pretend there’s no such thing as housework, then I put writing aside for a couple of weeks to work out hard and get on a schedule of cleaning, cooking, and getting errands done.
6)      Are you a plotter or a pantser?
I’m a plotter mostly. There are a couple of books where I just started writing without an outline. I usually make one, though.
7)      Do you ever find yourself slipping away and becoming so immersed in your  story it affects how you relate to others?
Not usually, but I’ve had times where I really just wanted to shut myself in a room and not be bothered while I write during a moment of inspiration. I think that’s fine sometimes as long as you don’t start living that way. In the rare event I do, I know it’s time to take a break and focus on exercise and getting things done.
8)      Are you in any of your books?
Not as a whole character, but occasionally I’ll slip parts of myself into some of my books. One of my heroines, Mellie, from my Men of McKenna Downs serial had my tendency to take empathy too far sometimes to the point of wearing yourself out. I’ve gotten better with that and taking time for myself. It keeps me sane and non-bitchy. J
Occasionally I will slip subtle things into books that are cathartic for me to write. It feels good to put it out there, and I always feel stronger because of it. I think you can be whole again, yet still feel the memories when looking back without letting them cripple you or take over your life.
9)      What do your friends and family have to say about you writing?
They don’t know my pen name. Most of the people I know have very different views than I do and would be scandalized, so I keep it to myself. I know people who’d be fine with it, but sometimes word gets around.
10)  Please share an excerpt from your book that totally spoke to you when you put the words down on paper.
Below is an excerpt from Green Broke Woman (Masters of Black Dragon 1). To me, it’s one of the most touching parts in the book because the heroine, Kayla, has just been through hell and heartache and she comes home after seven years.
I just love this scene because of the lost love getting a second chance. Kayla doesn’t know if Travis and his brothers ever married, so there’s this emotional turmoil of standing there face to face again after all this time, not knowing if he waited for her or if he’s moved on and she’ll never get the chance to show him how much she loves him.
The scene below is in Travis’ point of view when he sees her.
Travis Langley drove the tractor into the barn and parked it
before shutting the engine off. Time for a break. He wiped his
forehead with his arm and climbed down, taking a cool swig from his
water bottle. Leaving the lid off as he held the bottle, he moseyed out
of the barn, allowing the water a moment to settle in his gut.
A small, curvaceous woman coming up the road almost made
his neck snap when his head jerked to look at her. Man, she looked
like Kayla Sanders. Yeah, right. His sweet little Kayla just happened
to decide to come home to him today, wearing—Oh lord, what a
dress. The sleazy black number looked more like a slip. Probably just
some random woman.
He watched her closely, finding his body moving almost
involuntarily toward her. His mouth hung open when he got a better
look at her. It was Kayla. His baby cricket had come home to him. The
plastic water bottle landed on the ground with a muted thunk and an
erratic gurgle of spewing liquid when he dropped it. He quickened his
pace, wondering what the hell he would say to her after being apart
for so long.
Kayla stopped at the split rail fence and just stared at him with
her lips parted. She looked like an adorable, hot librarian or a sexy
nerd with her big black glasses, but they didn't overpower her face.
Rather they seemed to flatter her like she'd been born with them.
She had more tattoos than before. One on each thigh, a portrait
of Marilyn Monroe on the inside of her right forearm, and some word
scrawled all fancy-like on her collarbone, though she was too far away
for him to read it clearly. She had a few colorful tattoos on her left
arm, but not enough to qualify as a sleeve.
The bitty black dress hugged her hourglass figure, and the
cleavage pretty much screamed “Here are my titties”, but he didn't
mind one bit.
Her long, wavy curls of sleek ginger fell soft and free over her
shoulders, flirting with her beyond distracting breasts. Her plump
limbs were tan, and he had to smile at the way she stood barefoot with
her high heels in one hand. She'd always loved running barefoot in the
spring and summer.
He waited for her to speak first, but she just stood there gaping
at him, looking as if she might cry.
“You came back,” he breathed in disbelief.
“I did,” she said, seeming stuck in a state of shock. “Did you
... are you married?” She twiddled her fingers and averted her eyes,
but her voice cracked with the threat of tears. “I … I know you always
talked about getting married and having kids someday.”
“I'm not married, Kayla. I never married.”
The organ in his chest swelled with joy. He wanted to give
noogies to his brilliant, knucklehead brothers for talking him out of
marrying Veronica years ago. He'd just been straight with her and told
her he couldn't promise forever when he'd always love someone else.
She'd been understanding and informed him of a job offer she'd
accepted in Chicago. They'd parted ways on good terms and said
they'd keep in touch, but he knew like she probably had that they
wouldn't.
Now Kayla had come back to him, and it was his turn to be
happy again.
She stared at him, blinking rapidly like she wrestled with an
army of tears.
“Jake and Keith never married either.” Travis felt the nurturer
in him stir when he saw the tear dribble down her cheek. He heard the
break in his already softened tone. “We waited for you, cricket.”
She broke down and cried right there in front of him. He
breached the confounded feet between them and threw his arms
around her so tight he heard the air being squeezed from her in a
breathless gasp. She hugged him back and sobbed onto his shirt.
“I missed you so much, girl.”
Kayla squeezed him hard and cried harder. “I missed you, too,
all the time. I thought I was never going to see you again.”
He kissed the top of her head and then lifted his eyes to heaven,
mouthing a soundless thank you. “I always prayed you'd come back to
us, but seven years eats away at a man's morale. Why'd you stay away
so long?”
“Because I was stupid,” she wailed. “I'm so stupid.”
“Shh. No. You're back now. That's all that matters.”
He cupped her cheeks and laid one on her. Her enamored
whimper drove him crazy as he rubbed his lips against the smooth
softness of hers, feeling his sex drive roar to life when her lips parted
for his questing tongue.
He should have kissed her years ago and told her how he felt.
Instead he'd tried to do the right thing even though his smitten heart
had told him it was wrong. And she thought she was the stupid one?
Their tongues twined slowly in a hot, silky caress of saliva and
heart. His possessive side wanted to pin her up against a tree and
show her just how much he'd missed her, but he didn't want to scare
her off. The dirty fun would come later. Right now he just wanted to
hold her and taste her sweet mouth.
She moaned softly and pressed into the erection straining
against his jeans. He deepened the kiss, getting even more excited that
she rubbed her hands up and down his chest through his shirt. When
her thumbs grazed his nipples, electric pulses shot off in every part of
his body.
From: Green Broke Woman (Masters of Black Dragon 1)

Masters of Black Dragon, 1
Kayla Sanders has loved the three Langley brothers since childhood, but her youth and innocence keep them from acting on their feelings for her. Undaunted, she goes to California and seeks the help of Hugh Randall, a Dom, to train her in BDSM so she will be the submissive woman the Langleys want.
She never counted on falling for the Dom who trains her or on falling for Virgil Paisley, the hot cowboy in a white Stetson who comes to her aid when duty calls Hugh away mysteriously.
When Kayla returns to Kentucky, Travis, Keith, and Jake Langley profess their love to her. But a predator from Kayla’s past wants her back, and when she least expects it Hugh and Virgil walk back into her life. All five men want her, but none of them are willing to back down. Will she have to choose from among all of them, or is there another way?
Be Warned: menage sex (MFMMMM), BDSM, double vaginal penetration, caning, spanking

11)  Which actor/character(s) would play the starring role? (you can insert pics or just names or both here)
The heroine, Kayla Sanders, was based on a random picture I saw that intrigued me.
Master Hugh was based on actor, Hugh Laurie.
The other heroes were based on country singers.
Travis Langley – Travis Tritt.
Jake Langley – Tim McGraw
Keith Langley – Keith Urban
Virgil Paisley – Brad Paisley

This excerpt will get you through hump Wednesday!

From Dom Up by Alaska Angelini...

Even as I walked to my closet, I couldn’t take my eyes off her; the curve of her ass and arch of her back as she knelt and waited. I may have had one night stands before her, but I hadn’t taken a true sub since Rhayne. I wanted Victoria and I couldn’t even decipher why. It was emotion based. She just did it for me. She brought out the Dom I harbored deep within. The true self I kept under lock and key. It wasn’t like I couldn’t go through the role of what I enjoyed, but other women didn’t make me feel like she did. Powerful. Wanted…needed.
My fingers encircled over the handle of the crop and I walked back to her, studying everything that was before me. Her back stayed straight. She didn’t shift or move from being uncomfortable and her head never rose as I stood there.
“Hold up both of your hands, palm up.”
No questions. Obedience.
I laid the crop across the surface and started to undo my tie. Time stretched out as I took off the cuffs and eventually removed my shirt. Then, my shoes. When I got to my belt, not a single reaction. The edge of my lips pulled back as I jerked the leather free.
“You’re amazing, kitten. You sure you’ve never done this before?”
“I’m positive, Sir.”
I took the crop from her hands, placing it on the bed. “Stand and turn away from me.”
With the graceful way she rose, it didn’t look like she’d spent the last ten to fifteen minutes in one position without so much as easing the pressure from her knees. She turned, still keeping her head lowered. The rise and fall of her chest as I moved to the side had my own breath quickening.
“Hold your arms out behind you.”
I didn’t wait. I slid the belt around her biceps, restraining them together. It was tight enough to give off the secured feeling, but not enough to add discomfort. The first night would be an introduction. Over time, I could break her in to the more sadistic part of me.
“You’re doing great.” My fingers slid into the back of her hair, right at the nape of her neck and I used it to guide her to face me. My other hand rose and I used my index finger to bring her gaze up to mine. “Head up through this next phase. Stare straight ahead, but never directly at me. Understood?”
“Yes, Sir.”
Even as I had spoken, my touch was already traveling down the side of her neck. I didn’t stop as I swept down between her cleavage and over her stomach. In heels, her eyes were level with my upper chest. She kept that position and didn’t move while I breached the lining of her lace panties. The smoothness that met my fingertips had my cock jerking. It only got worse at the wetness I was greeted with. Fuck, I wanted her as badly as she obviously wanted me.
The slight trembling that shook her body increased while I massaged over the top of her slit. She moaned and her shoulders shifted as if she wanted to reach out to me.
“It’s about to get really intense. Prepare yourself, kitten.”
My grip went back to her hair and I pulled back hard while sliding my finger into her entrance. The cry that met me was one of pure bliss, but I didn’t get to enjoy it like I had expected. The tightness that hugged against me had my eyes widening. God, I could tell she wasn’t a virgin, but how long had it been?
“Victoria, when was the last time you had sex?” Maybe I worded it wrong or my tone was too filled with shock, but I felt her stiffen and I didn’t like how fast she was pulled from the moment.
“I…” She swallowed and tried to take a step back, but didn’t go anywhere with my hold still tilting her head. Her eyes were full of fear as she stared up at me. I’d never worried about breaking a sub. It usually didn’t take me long to discover how far they could go. But with her, I didn’t have a clue about her boundaries. Couldn’t gage how much she could take, physically or mentally.
“Shh. It doesn’t matter. I’m just looking out for you. You have the safeword if you need it. I’m trusting you to use it, like you’re trusting me to stop. Remember that.”
The tears that welled in her eyes slowly faded as I went back to rubbing against her folds. I felt her loosening under my tight grip, allowing herself to belong to me completely as I continued to pleasure her.
I opened my fist, only to close it even harder around her thick hair. The small whimpers drove me over the cliff of my control. My lips traveled over her exposed neck and I left her pussy, but stayed in her panties, as I reached around and clutched her ass, pulling her even more into me.  My teeth grazed against her soft skin, picking up the scent from her soap. It muddled my senses, something that didn’t happen with any of the women I’d been with. I reached her shoulder and sunk my teeth in with just enough pressure to cause her to gasp.

“Tonight, I’m going to treat you like you’re mine. For keeps.”

ROMANCING THE MEMORY COLLECTOR

This is the cover from my latest release. It is a sweet romance; another of my futuistic romances. This one is set in Sydney and features a Thomas Winters who we met briefly in 'A Stellar Affair.'

KATE BENTLEY, is short-sighted but too vain to wear glasses. When she is tossed backward by the up-escalator at Sydney Airport she is rescued by THOMAS WINTERS. She falls for his kindness and melted-chocolate voice and doesn’t notice his lined face or the double-chins caused by his blood-hound genes.
For Thomas, single and lonely, meeting Kate is the chance of a lifetime. Shy and hesitant, Thomas courts her with gentle determination.  When he discovers she can see memory bubbles and collects them to return to her father’s failing mind he suspects she could be g-altered. He asks WILLIAM CORBAN to investigate.
Their romance falters when Thomas adopts SUZIE, a genetically-altered child, but when Kate finds COLIIN BENTLEY has wandered she asks Thomas for help. Colin is found with the help of Thomas’ g-altered friends and Kate realizes her future is tied to this gentle man, who has won her heart but has she left it too late?
